Christian Counseling

The way you think about yourself affects the way that you view Scripture, God, and shapes your Theology. Some clients choose to bring their faith background in as part of their therapy work. I work with people of all religions and faith backgrounds.
We can unpack some of your underlying emotions or spiritual trauma so that you can have a faith that is authentic to you. I provide support with how trauma, childhood experiences, and hardship might be affecting your spiritual life. Areas that I address are:

Theological Beliefs

If you have a Christian faith background, you may be looking for a Christian therapist simply because I can understand the complexities of faith questions you may have, Christian culture and lingo, and how your faith impacts decision-making in your everyday life. On the other hand, you may be struggling with your faith. It’s hard not to question faith and God when you are going through hardships. You may feel disconnected from God, and perhaps other Christians around you. I can help bring clarity to your emotions and thoughts as you are deconstructing your faith.

Spirituality is an important part of one’s emotional health. It can be used as a resource when life feels out of control and you need a sense of calm. Many people have spiritual rituals or meditation practices that relieve anxiety and stress. I work with my clients in a holistic way that brings in their spirituality on their path towards emotional health.

Christian Counseling is not a replacement of Biblical counseling, pastoral counseling, nor spiritual direction. My scope of practice is interpreting your thoughts and emotions as it relates to your faith, and it is best used when in company with the other faith resources mentioned.
